This artwork originates from a charcoal sketch created by Nelson Mandela in July 2004. The edition comprises 50 posthumously hand‑printed silkscreen works, each bearing the Mandela lifeline stamp in Indian ink, the House of Mandela mark, and the printer’s mark. Every numbered print includes an original Nelson Mandela pencil signature, presented in a recessed window.
Celebrated globally for his dedication to peace, negotiation, and reconciliation, Nelson Mandela served as South Africa’s first democratically elected president (1994–1999). A lifelong advocate for justice and a philanthropist with a deep affection for children, Mandela produced only a small number of artworks during his eighties, making pieces from this period especially rare.
